I was so sad to see Dolly had passed. She was a beacon of love, kindness and hope throughout her life. She showed us we can be bold, kind, ambiotious, loving, charitable, glamourous, talented, smart, uniquely ourselves, opinionated, strong, proud, loyal, and confident all in one impossibly amazing package.
I grew up with a Mama who loved to sew for us kids and who listened to nothing but country music. So, I don’t think it is shocking that A Coat of Many Colors is my all time favorite Dolly song. I simply cannot listen to it without tearing up no matter how many times I’ve listened to it (and it’s a lot). As fellow sewist, if you have not had the joy of listening to this song yet, do yourself a favor and go give it a listen.
I’ve shared my love of Dolly with my kids and I hope they share it with theirs one day too. My daughter asked if we were going to have a day dedicated to celebrating Dolly’s life this weekend and it made me want to honor her legacy by doing what she was always so great at– spreading love and hope. I will be donating 50% of all sales I make this weekend to her Imagination Library.
