Cocoon Cardigan

Rated 4.18 out of 5 based on 17 customer ratings

$10.00

This is a PDF sewing pattern and tutorial to teach you how to create these garments. THIS IS NOT A FINISHED PRODUCT.

This is a loose, slouchy fit through waist, but skims bust and hips for a flattering but comfortable silhouette. Sleeves are a dolman style and lower sleeve is a slimmer fit, but still has a bit of ease to allow for layering under comfortably.
The cocoon, circular shape is perfectly on trend and easy to dress up or down! This pattern pairs amazing with a sweater knit, rayon spandex, rayon blend french terry or other knit fabric with a softer drape.
It comes with almost endless options! Cropped looks great with a dress, tunic looks great with jeans or leggings. They both include short and tall bands. The tall bands give a shawl collar effect. Sleeve lengths include short (both hemmed and banded), 3/4, long (hemmed, short or tall banded). We also added 2 different pocket styles! Inseam or patch pockets finish off this cardigan for the perfect staple piece in your closet!

Here is a round up of all shapes and sizes wearing  this pattern! And an album in our FB group here!

You will receive the easy to print and match color coded pattern pieces on NO TRIM PAGES and have LAYERS so you can print only the size you need. I can find the layout for how long or wide the banding around the neckline. How do I know how long/wide to make it?

I really struggled with this. I’m very new to sewing, and I loved this pattern but wanted a warmer material so I used like a fleecy teddy bear material. I went for the medium measurements, but even in that I felt the sleeves were really tight, but the rest of the cardi was baggy. Can anyone assist with this? How can I use the smaller size but a looser sleeve so that it’s comfortable. Would love some advice 🙂
My friend made me a wrap shirt with appropriate measurements, but also the sleeves were very tight… so just need some advice on how to adapt so I can wear these amazing patterns

Hi- the Cocoon pattern has fitted sleeves with an oversized middle, so anything more stable or thick will feel too tight. It’s drafted for higher stretch sweater knits. If you want to make it looser there you can take a smaller seam allowance or trace the next size up in both the upper arm seam and the lower arms. If your arms are a size bigger or you just prefer a loose fit there you can always do a bicep adjustment or grade out to the next size on the sleeves. If you need more help you can email us at help@patternsforpirate.com or post in the FB group.
