The Peg Event :: VBack Waistband Hack for the Peg Legs Update!

Welcome back to another day of The Peg Event! We hope you are loving our newest release of the Peg Legs – Colorblock Pack and update to the beloved Peg Legs, and Peg Legs – Add-On Pack!

Colorblock Pack Waistband Hack for the Original Peg Legs Pattern

So you love the new contoured waistband of the colorblock pack, but want to keep the legs quick and simple? Here’s the hack on how to use the original Peg Legs with the new colorblock pack waistband. You can use either the plain contoured waistband or with all the fun pockets too.

First, assemble the original Peg Legs pattern and Colorblock pack. You will only need the Colorblock Pack Back – 1 Piece. Aligning at the back rise and crotch curve, place back colorblock piece on the original Peg Legs pattern piece. Note, the pattern piece should align at the mid-rise cutline as the contoured waistband is drafted to fit the lower rise and finish high rise at the natural waist.

Trim the original Peg Leg pattern piece back rise or re-trace to create your new Peg Legs pattern piece.

Cut and assemble the legs as per the original Peg Leg instructions and using the waistband instructions from the colorblock pack. I used the back pocket option and our FOE hack for the version shown below.

Easy right?!? Now you can add an extra style of leggings to your closet. I especially love how the V back fits with the booty 😉 Don’t forget to share your version, we’d love to see all your Pegs!

What a day, what a DAY! We are pumped about our newest release of the Peg Legs – Colorblock Pack and update to the beloved Peg Legs, and Peg Legs – Add-On Pack!

Let’s talk the new Peg Legs – Colorblock Pack, shall we?

The Peg Legs – Colorblock Pack is a special spin on our basic leggings pattern.

This new Colorblock Pack give you a super fun diagonal piece on the thigh for a lot of fun opportunities with different fabric combinations. The diagonal colorblock is also super flattering on the front and back. The waistband is a high waisted/high rise contoured waistband but this time we gave it a little heart/v shaped to the back side to show off those squats you’ve been working on!

The waistband also has a fun diagonal pocket or two to hold your things…because pockets are important! We truly hope everyone enjoys this fun new pack to the Peg Leg collection!

Options include: Shorts (5″ inseam), Bike (just above knee), Capri (calf), 7/8 (above ankle), and ankle lengths. You can choose from plain waistband, 1 pocket or 2 pockets.

Enjoy several videos throughout the tutorial like what fabric suggestions and a complete sew up from start to finish.

They are drafted in adult sizes and are for the full, newer size chart, extending from XXS – Plus 5X! If you haven’t sewn with us in a while, please make sure to check the size charts, as there were slight adjustments made to accommodate the new size range for adults.

What changed? Here are the details:

We adjusted our size chart and range to match with our updated range. Now Peg Legs can be made for anyone sizes XXS – Plus 5X!
- If you haven’t measured yourself in a while, take some time to do so. It’s healthy when sewing for yourself anyway, because weight and size can fluctuate so much and you want to make the perfect size for yourself. But also, our chart adjusted ever so slightly and you might fit into a different size range now.
We added a projector file for our friends who like to use their paperless technology.
There are a few more labels added to the pattern pieces, to help with common questions we’ve seen come up over the years.

P4P Spirit Month 2020

We’ve got spirit, yes we do. We’ve got spirit, how ’bout you?!?!

I am OVER-THE-MOON excited to talk about what’s happening in the month of May, y’all! It’s been officially dubbed “P4P Spirit Month” and we are kicking it into full gear the minute the calendar changes over to May 1.

What are we doing exactly? Our team is super in love with Me Made May and the idea behind getting to know your self-made clothing, and to celebrate your sewing skills. Big props to So, Zo…What Do You Know? for starting this social media movement a decade ago.

We decided to kick it up a notch by creating themes around each day. Think of it like Spirit Week at school…where all of your fellow classmates dress in theme together and you get to feel the excitement and camaraderie surrounding your themed clothing efforts. Instead of it only lasting a week, it’s the ENTIRE MONTH. And the themes are pretty achievable, using items you already have in your closet. You can play along as much or as little as you’d like.

The rules are pretty simple.

Wear a new / old Patterns for Pirates clothing item that you’ve made, matching up with the daily theme. ie: wear a purple Basic Tee on Purple Day (May 3).
- Simple adjustments / pattern mashes are fine to share. We just want to be able to recognize the P4P pattern you used to make your clothing item!
Take a photo of yourself in the item.
- It has to be a new photo, taken that day. Mirror selfies with a messy room behind you are completely acceptable. We just want to see you, in this moment, playing along with us!
Share the photo on the Patterns for Pirates Facebook Group wall, in a separate post that you’ve created.
- You must use the hashtag #P4PSpiritMonth so we can find your image. (It must be EXACT to come up in our search.)
- Tell us what P4P pattern you used to create your look.
Have fun with it!

We will pick three random names from all of the images that are shared using our hashtag. (Our super pirate sleuths will make sure you’re following all of the rules and posting on the correct days.) IT’S TIME TO ANNOUNCE THE WINNERS AND CELEBRATE THE PARTICIPANTS, Y’ALL!!

Spirit Month was an absolute blast. Thank you so much to everyone who participated and celebrated their handmade wardrobes along with us! Before we get to the prize winners, let’s quickly share our favorites from each of the daily themes.
